Paris brûle-t-il ? Quand le cinéma réinvente la Libération

The film "Is Paris burning" was released in 1966. In just a few months, René Clément managed tot turn a historical best-seller writtent by two journalists into an epic French-American blockbuster featuring a whole host of international stars.

creating an ambitious retelling of the LIberation of Paris just 20 yeaurs after the event was no easy task, as many of the main characters wre still alive and remainded influential. Clément used remarquable ingenuity to get them to agree to the political narrative implied in the film.

The exhibition features clips from the film and documentaries about its filming that also allow us to appreciate the director's use of archives images and real-life testimonies. This panoramic azccount brought the LIberation of Paris to cinema screens across many countries of the world.
